Message from the De Beers Fund

The De Beers Fund thanks the SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service for the privilege of partnering with this exemplary healthcare organisation, and specifically with its work in the Northern Cape - home of South Africa's diamond mining industry.

Our doing so forms part of an annual corporate social investment undertaking that sees De Beers and its operations working with over 150 organisations throughout the country with investments in people and communities in whom we believe, in a country confident in her liberty.

De Beers has never regarding this work as frivolous activity and acts in accordance with a philosophy summed up in 1954 by then De Beers Chairman Sir Ernest Oppenheimer: "...the purpose of the company is to make profits for its shareholders, but to do so in a way that makes a real and lasting contribution to the countries and communities in which it operates".
