Today we get to know Mohammed Shaik (affectionately known as Mo), Emergency Care Technician (ECT) and External Load Operator (ELO) operational at our Oudtshoorn base. Mo hails from the Province located in the southeast of the country and has been with the organisation for four years. Here’s a look in his world …

Tell us about yourself: “I was born and bred in Chatsworth Unit3 KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).  I was accepted to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and that’s when it all started, haven’t looked back since.” 

Were you in any other trade before? “Retail at the Bangladesh market (only Durbanites know where that is).”

If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be? “Is to become a master knife smith, those guys are real masters of working metal into amazing weapons.” 

What do you do in your spare time? “I used to devote all my non-working hours to falconry.”

What do you enjoy most about your job? “Flying around in a gorgeous Italian machine.”

What is on your bedside table? “I don’t have one of those.”

What was your first thought when you woke up this morning? “I wonder if HCG will be back in Oudtshoorn today.”

What has been the happiest day of your life? “There’s been a few from signing my contract at AMS to the completion of my ELO training.”

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? “A Tier 1 Special Forces Operator.”

What is the one thing you can’t live without? “Data.”

Best piece of advice anyone ever gave you? “Dala what you must my bru.”

Any motto you live by? “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.”  "We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.’’Sura Al-Baqara, Verse 156.
