The Western Province Aquatics in partnership with Swimming South Africa, City of Cape Town and the Department of Sport and Culture hosted a Ocean Splash program on Water Safety on Saturday, 17 December 2011. The Cape Town Metro AMS Rescue helicopter was invited to partake in the program by displaying a sea rescue demonstration at Strandfontein Pavilion. The aim of the event was for the children to partake in a big walk and fun activities on the beach as well as highlighting water safety. Approximately 400 children from Khayalitsha and Mitchells Plain took part in the fun and learning on the day.
