The AMS in partnership with the Free State Provincial Department of Health provides an emergency aero-medical service to the metropolitan and rural communities throughout the province. The EC 130 B4 helicopter is the first AMS aircraft of this type to be operated in South Africa. The medical interior aboard the aircraft was designed and patented by the AMS Aviation Maintenance Organisation (AMO) department.
Bloemfontein Base is operated by a team of highly trained paramedics and pilots, as well as nurses and doctors which is seconded from the province. The AMS crew works closely with local emergency personnel to ensure prompt activation of services.
