Description of duties:
The primary role of the new services project manager is to establish and manage new provincial helicopter emergency medical service bases, which is in keeping with the provincial health departments needs and the AMS mission and visions. This is achieved by anticipation, planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the devised project action plan. The project plan outcomes are managed continually through evaluation, new plans and systems are continuously devised, whilst working within pre-determined budgets and time frames to meet the projected deadlines. Coordination and networking with the various specialist role-players and departments are integral to meeting the deadlines hence determining success of the project. Communication systems, which are implemented, ensure concise reporting to all stake holders on the projects operational progress. Accurate financial reporting determines efficient effective billing to the clients.Human resource negotiations and management are constant challenges encountered during growth phase of most new projects.To concur to legal requirements specified by professional bodies e.g. health professions council of South Africa (HPCSA) and South African Civil Aviation Authority. Staff upliftment training programs are devised and systems are implemented. The knowledge of the healthcare system and aero-medical experience prepares one to act occasionally in an advisory capacity to the staff and client.
